Real Corpus Christi story

A bad back, a houseful of belongings, and no one rushing him out the door.

The situation

The owner had lived in his home for a long time, and it was full of a lifetime of belongings. With a bad back, the thought of packing it all up and moving it out on his own felt almost impossible. The house needed a lot of work too: an old kitchen and bath, damaged floors, tired paint, a fence falling down, a driveway in rough shape, and a garage and two workshops that had seen better days. The foundation, plumbing, heating, and roof all needed attention.

More than anything, he didn't want to be rushed or pushed. He needed time. He needed someone who would actually listen and understand where he was, instead of handing him a deadline and waiting for the clock to run out.

How we helped

So we did the opposite of rushing him. We bought the house just as it was, with all the belongings still inside, and told him he could leave behind anything he didn't want. We gave him nearly six months to move out at his own pace, with no deadlines until he felt ready. When the heavy items were too much for his back, we helped load them and move them into his truck ourselves.

There was no pressure at any point. He set the pace the whole way. Once he was finally ready, we closed quickly.

What it meant for them

He moved out on his own terms, with no stress and no rush — and a huge sense of relief when it was finally done.

What happened after

After he was settled, we gave the old house a full makeover with local crews. We freshened up every room with new paint, restored the original hardwood, and laid new vinyl flooring. The kitchen got an update and the bath was fully remodeled. We repaired the foundation and the roof, put on new siding, poured a new driveway, added a new garage door, and fixed up the two workshops. Over 300 feet of brand-new fencing went up around it. A tired, packed-full house became a fresh start for a new family — and the neighborhood got a little brighter.
